History
The Field Restaurant and Bar has been one of the most popular bars in Black Rock since opening in 2005. In recent years, owners Tom and P.J. Quinn sought to build upon the bar's success by expanding the business's restaurant offerings. They fulfilled this goal in late 2009 by partnering with critically acclaimed chefs Stephen Hartigan and Niall O'Neill. In January 2010, under the direction of Hartigan and O'Neill, The Field introduced a revamped kitchen staff and menu.
Stephen Hartigan, Executive Chef
Stephen Hartigan is considered one of the top young chefs in all of Ireland. He began his training at some of London's top tier restaurants, including The Ivy and Le Caprice. He then moved to New York to become a chef at Cafe Gray, where he created multi-course tasting menus for some of Manhattan's biggest names. There Hartigan met attorney-to-the-stars Allen Grubman, who hired Hartigan as his personal chef. In 2009 Hartigan published his first book, No More Takeout: A Visual Do-It-Yourself Guide to Cooking, along with co-author Jerry Boak.
Niall O'Neill, General Manager
Niall O'Neill has been in the restaurant business since age 14. He previously ran an outdoor catering company in Ireland, and later worked as a manager at Jack White's Inn in Wicklow, Ireland. O'Neill attended culinary school in Killarney with Chef Stephen Hartigan.
